About SMT
The Company: Surface Modification Technology, Inc. (SMT) is a Delaware corporation that was formed to exploit a new patented technology to control nosocomial infection by providing a unique, real-time infection control capability for medical facilities and emergency vehicles. The technology, known as Self-sterilizing Surface Treatments (S3Ts), can also be used to limit the potential contamination to governmental and other public facilities caused by known biothreat agents. Further, SMT intends to exploit the same technology to coat medical devices to include implants, stents, and catheters in order to reduce the risk of infection associated with their use under a pending license from a leading academic medical center. SMT biomedical research applications are guided by a Medical Advisory Board chaired by renowned geneticist and immediate past VP/Chief Technology Officer of SMT, Dr. Yin-Xiong Li and leading neurologist Dr. Steven Schachter.
The technology also has applications in mitigating corrosion, beautifying and preserving architectural features such as pavers, and preserving wooden dock structures. We also are marketing a new, waterbased anti-corrosive treatment for steel that is especially well suited to field application over distressed surfaces with minimal surface preparation.
SMT has its principal offices in Orlando and Palm Coast, Florida. The company is currently expanding and has esteemed executives from the medical industry, and doctors and scientists from a leading academic medical center on its business and science advisory boards. We are partnering with qualified domestic and international applicators to apply S3Ts and monitor performance.
