• What We Do

    Surface Modification Technology, Inc. (SMT) offers a portfolio of patented Self-sterilizing Surface Treatments (S3Ts) to "immunize" physical assets of Medical Facilities (hospitals, urgent care centers, labs), Emergency Response Vehicles (patrol cars, ambulances, aircraft), and High-occupancy Facilities (hotels, health clubs, day care centers, schools, casinos) against pathogens responsible for nosocomial infections and against chemical and biological warfare agents (CWAs/BWAs). Physical assets can include building surfaces and appurtenances, subsystems and equipment, HVAC systems (for increased efficiency and less mold), ambulance exteriors, patient cabs, and equipment, helicopter and fixed-wing transport interiors, and clothing. Just about any substrate routinely touched by people can be treated to minimize transfer of bacteria from person to person. S3Ts also preserve and beautify surfaces which require less maintenance. We recently launched Bioxxn(TM) Wood Sealer as an answer to the dock rot problem (see blogs).

  • BioShield-75

    Orlando Air Filter, a wholly owned subsidiary of SMT, is a national distributor for BioShield-75 an EPA registered and USDA approved Biostatic treatment that mechanically kills microbes on contact and can last up to one year on touched surfaces. Like our other S3T treatments, it avoids bacterial mutations by killing mechanically. Bioshield-75 is effective on bacteria, viruses, and mold. It has been proven effective against H1N1, MRSA, Strep, HIV, Tuberculosis and most of the infectious microbes on the CDC’s contagious disease list. It is water-based, odorless and is easily applied by wiping, spraying, or misting. It is so safe that it is USDA approved for food contact surfaces. It can be used indoors and outdoors.
